Elbow

Pain Treatment

We can help with: tennis elbow, golfers elbow, elbow tendonitis, symptoms of arthritis and other conditions causing elbow pain

Elbows often bear the brunt of Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI) like ‘tennis elbow’ or ‘golfer's elbow,’ particularly for those who spend prolonged hours typing on keyboards, tablets, or phones. This discomfort isn’t limited to office workers; manual laborers, musicians, and athletes can all find themselves grappling with these issues, as the names imply.

Both conditions involve the persistent strain on a group of forearm muscles, which become chronically tight and overused. In Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis), it's the wrist extensors; in Golfer's Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis), it's the wrist flexors. This continual tension on their attachment points near the elbow bone leads to ongoing inflammation and pain that if left untreated can be challenging to manage.

Our Approach:

To pinpoint the root cause of symptoms and identify affected structures, we meticulously gather information about the onset, sensation, timing, daily patterns, and factors that worsen or alleviate symptoms.

We delve into how you utilize your arms during work, exercise, and other activities, and inquire about any issues with your neck and other upper limb joints, your overall health, as well as any past accidents, injuries, or surgeries.

We then assess your elbow and the surrounding limb, examining movement in all directions and noting any restrictions or discomfort.

Once we've formulated a working diagnosis, we take the time to explain our findings to you and discuss how we can assist, including the need for any referrals.

Our treatment approach targets enhancing mobility, muscle tone, and local circulation. We employ specific massage, mobilization, and stretching techniques to enhance joint and muscle flexibility, alleviate tension, and promote effective recovery.

Throughout the session, we offer guidance on exercises, ergonomics, and other strategies to expedite recovery and sustain treatment outcomes.

Managing RSI involves facilitating accelerated repair to combat wear and tear. While this can be challenging for individuals reliant on these muscles for their livelihoods, we employ various strategies and empower you to manage the condition for optimal results.
